The Hawn Memorial Library is grateful for the community’s continued support. The library uses donations to help give back to the community by offering programs, materials, and services. There are many ways that you can donate to our library.

A Gift Through the NNYCF Dedicated Endowment Fund
One of the most effective ways to support the library is by giving through Hawn Memorial Library’s dedicated endowment fund at Northern New York Community Foundation.
Established in January 2023, the endowment creates an ongoing, self-sustaining, source of income, consisting of an invested pool of money that creates long-term stability for the library.
An endowment fund can grow and provide support for its designated purpose in perpetuity. By contributing to the endowment fund, you create a permanent legacy of support for the Hawn Memorial Library.
An endowment can benefit the donor, too! An endowment gift is a permanent tribute to you, the donor, and the value of your gift grows for future generations. As you are making a significant investment in the future of the Hawn Memorial Library, you can receive great satisfaction from making a tax-deductible gift that keeps on giving.
Even a small donation can make a BIG impact!
Donate money directly to the library.
Any donation to the library is greatly appreciated and you can be sure that it will be used in a way that best serves the library. We accept payments in the form of cash or check. You will receive a note thanking you for your donation, which you will be able to use for tax purposes.
Donate your time, skills and talents by volunteering
The library is always looking for programming ideas. If you have a special skill, hobby or interest to share, you could volunteer to lead a workshop, present a program, lead a craft group or help with a special project. You could decorate the library for holidays/seasons, create a book display, or even be a guest reader for a children’s program. There are so many options for volunteers to do here, and we appreciate any help that is offered. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please contact the library.
Donate books, DVDs, puzzles, etc. to the library
We are always adding donated items each year into our collection. If we don’t add the items to our collection, they may be used as giveaway items for prizes, added to our traveling book section, or be put into a library book sale. The library will only accept items in good, clean condition. Donations must be given to a staff member inside during our open hours and are not to be left in the drop box or outside our door. All items must be free of rips, stains, writing/drawing, mold, mildew, scratches on discs, missing pieces etc. The library cannot accept audio books, encyclopedias, textbooks, reader’s digest condensed books, VHS tapes, or cassette tapes. This is not an inclusive list; if you have questions about items you would like to donate, please contact the library.
Engage.
It’s as simple as liking us on Facebook and Instagram and sharing our posts. We want to reach as many people as possible!
** Any monetary donation to the library is tax deductible and greatly appreciated. Regardless of how much you donate, your donation is used to purchase more materials for the library that are added to our collection or used for programming. If you have a special request for how your donation is used, please contact the library or send a note with your donation.
